Dear Parishioners,
Due to the forecast of heavy snow beginning early Sunday morning, January 25, I am sharing this update now to help you and your family plan ahead:
I strongly encourage you, if you are able, to attend the Saturday Vigil Mass at 4:30pm. This will be the only public Mass offered this weekend.
Out of concern for safety, there will not be any public celebration of Mass on Sunday morning at St. Bridget University Parish. The church building will remain locked. Parking lots must remain completely empty so that our snow removal service can thoroughly plow and shovel our property. In addition, if the Glassboro schools are closed on Monday, our Monday morning 9am Mass will also be cancelled.
During this closure, Fr. Piro and I will celebrate private Masses thereby fulfilling all requested Mass intentions promised for Sunday and Monday.
As your pastor, I dispense you from your Sunday Mass Obligation on January 25, 2026.
This means that there is no sin incurred by missing Mass this weekend.
If you are unable to attend the 4:30 Saturday Vigil Mass, please keep Sunday holy by doing something special for God. I would suggest you do at least one of the following acts of piety:
Pray the Rosary,
Read and prayerfully reflect on Readings from the Bible,
Participate in Mass on TV or the Internet and make a spiritual Communion.
Please stay safe. We are connected with God and one another even when we cannot physically gather in our church building. In these extreme weather circumstances, God knows our hearts and our desire for Him. Let's pray for all those impacted by this harsh winter, especially those less fortunate than ourselves, those who lack adequate clothing or shelter.
You're in my prayers and I will offer private Mass for all of you this Sunday.
Peace and blessings,
Fr. John Rossi
Pastor
